From being touted as the next superstar to having trouble meeting ends on a daily basis, Edmond has gone through a lot more than most other singers. While his peers like Miriam, Eason and even Denise Ho got quickly picked up by other record companies, Edmond was left behind. Finally, after over a year since signing with EMI, Edmond finally released this album.
This was well worth the wait. Credit should given to EMI for their efforts in this album. The album gathered the 4 best composers in Hong Kong today (Carl Wong, Chan Fei Yeung, Mark Lui and Ng Lok Shing), as well as compositions from Edmond himself. Lin Xi finishes up these compositions with great lyrics, and took the effort to give the album a theme (using numbers in each title which are sequentially placed in the album).
The first 2 plug songs in the album are vintage Edmond: track 6 "501" and track 8 "7 Dwarfs". Track 4 "3 homes in a lifetime" is composed by Edmond himself and is just as good as the other 4 composers. Track 2 "1 hour photo", track 5 "Beatle 4" and track 9 "8" shows off the "lighter" side of Edmond.
This is one of the most enjoyable Canto albums this year. You can hear the effort given in each song. Now let's see if Edmond can run into a little luck and get back to where he was.
