Ah, no wonder the characters looked so familiar. It just seemed to me that the two main characters don't know how to speak Chinese. They hardly said a thing, but when there was an English-spoken part, they spoke fluidly and with confidence.
IA2 is a prequel to Infernal Affairs as it talks about how Andy and Tony's characters ended up in their positions in IA. IA3 is a sequel to IA1, but it's WAY more confusing than IA2 (which I personally didn't find all that confusing). IA3 is truly confusing....lol
Perhaps its because I couldn't figure out who in IA2 was playing Tony's and Andy's characters. I guess the half-brother of Ngai is Tony? Maybe I should watch it again AFTER re-watching IA1...

but you saw IA1 ?
coz there and here edison chen plays the young andy lau-figure, and shawn yue takes tony leung's role...
IA3 has 2 plots:
the first starts 6 months before tony's death, and focuses more on his relationship with kelly chen
the second is a direct sequel to IA1. whats happening with andy lau...
You should hear a Hk movie dubbed in german, it's simply awful.
Only in the last years we get a decent german synchro, all movies before that sounded like porn.
Anyway, i watched IA 1 some days ago for the 1st time, and i'm quite impressed.
